Delete from inside the app
The fastest way is in the app itself. Deletion happens immediately
and does not need to be requested or approved.
- Open BarScout and go to Settings.
- Under Account, tap Delete Account.

Read what will be removed, type DELETE to confirm, then tap
Delete My Account.
If you signed in with Apple, Apple will ask you to confirm. This also revokes
BarScout’s access to your Apple ID.
If you can’t use the app
If you have already uninstalled BarScout, or cannot sign in, email us instead:

Email privacy@barscout.app
from the email address associated with your BarScout account.

Use the subject line “Delete my account”.

We verify the request came from the account holder, then delete your data
and confirm by email.
Emailed requests are completed within 30 days. We may contact you to confirm
your identity before deleting anything — this protects you from someone else
deleting your account.
What is deleted
The following is permanently removed and cannot be recovered:
- Your profile — display name, avatar, Scout Points, level, accuracy and streaks
- Your earned badges and venue milestones
- Your saved bars and notification preferences
- Your friends, pending friend requests, and friend code
- Your check-ins and any notes attached to them
- Your venue visit history
- Your push notification tokens
- Any content reports you submitted
- Any business account memberships and venue claims you submitted
- Your sign-in credentials and authentication records
Photos and video posted to a venue page are temporary regardless of account deletion —
they expire at the end of the venue’s session, and both the files and their records
are deleted then.
What is kept
A small amount of information is retained in a form that is
permanently unlinked from you and cannot be traced back to your identity:

Crowd reports. The crowd levels you submitted remain as anonymous
venue statistics. Other people and the venues themselves rely on this history to
understand how busy a place gets. Once your account is deleted, these reports carry
no link to you, your name, or your email — your user ID is removed and your
display name is replaced.

Anonymous usage analytics. Aggregate counts such as how often a venue
page was viewed, with no identifying information attached.

Records required by law. Anything we are legally obliged to retain,
for example for fraud prevention or tax purposes.
Anonymized data cannot be re-linked to you. If you would like confirmation of what was
removed, ask in your deletion request and we will include a summary in our reply.
Retention periods
- In-app deletion — immediate.
- Emailed requests — personal data removed within 30 days of a verified request.
- Backups — residual copies are purged within 90 days as backups age out.
